Our tradition of original and unique Performing Arts events continues this week with ‘Wonderland’. Under the creative direction Mrs Kayte Walsh, many departments have been working on various elements of this cross-curriclar show, to be performed at Ffynone House School on Tuesday 29th November at 7pm.
This entertaining production follows the familiar narrative of Alice falling down the rabbit hole and features original music compositions by GCSE Music students, with scenery and costumes by GCSE Art students. The lower school, who make up the main cast, have also been busily making masks and huge monsters for their rendition of ‘Jabberwocky’.
The show’s structure and mood centres around Alice’s confusion as she navigates through this bewildering and bedazzling land. To emphasise this, the languages department have translated some lines to give a sense that Alice is foreigner in this fantastical world.
There are also multiple actresses playing the character of ‘Alice’, so even the audience share the central character’s feeling of wonder and curiosity.
Tickets for this performance are available from the school on 01792 464967. All welcome.
Ffynone House offers Performing Arts scholarships to a limited number of exceptional candidates. Please contact the school to find out more.
