Higher Education & Careers
With outstanding results, Ffynone House students are extremely successful in gaining access to Higher Education.
Good qualifications are the passport to the most popular courses, and the vast majority obtain places at their first choice university, many in the Russell group.
Students go on to study a wide range of stimulating subjects across the sciences, humanities and creative arts. These have included Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Aeronautical Engineering, Business & Management, Psychology and History of Art. Former students have also been accepted at prestigious institutions, such as the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
Expert help with UCAS applications is provided and there are opportunities for interview practice with the school’s Senior Leadership Team and external admissions advisors. Guest speakers from Higher Education institutions, including Oxford and Cambridge, visit to give further insight into applying to university and what to expect from a degree course. Former Ffynonians return to talk about university life from a student’s perspective, and older past students and visiting professionals discuss their chosen careers.
Visits to universities across the UK are organised, and we believe it is equally important to encourage students to plan and arrange their own visits to university open days.
Support for vocational courses, such as those leading to accountancy and legal qualifications is also provided, and students aiming to develop their independence by taking a gap year are similarly encouraged.
