We are thrilled that two Ffynone House Music students have been short-listed in the prestigious Royal Opera House Fanfare Composition Competition.
This demanding competition requires students to compose a fanfare to capture the attention of an audience about to enter the Royal Opera House for a performance. It must be only 20-30 seconds long, be imaginative, include at least two motifs from a Fanfare Motif Bank and have a minimum of four independent layers of sound. Entrants must also take into consideration range, colour, dynamics, articulation and expression.
Entries are judged by a panel of professional musicians. Four students from Year 10 and one from Year 12 submitted compositions; Holly, Morgan and Cerys all received commendations with Devon and Lowri being chosen for the top 30 shortlist.
