Outstanding A-level results, 2018

An outstanding set of A-level results from Ffynone House School sees us maintain our superb 100% pass rate.  Over half our students achieved grade A or above, with an impressive 68% achieving A*-B.  The difference a Ffynone A-level education makes is evident, given that the figure for A*-A grades in both Wales and in England is just 26%.

Excellent results across the curriculum

These high results came from a number of different subject areas.  70% of Maths and Science results were A*-A, with all our Chemistry candidates achieving grades at this highest level.  Our Business Studies cohort all leave us with a B or above and there were similar results in Economics.  In Art, an impressive 67% of entrants hit the top A-A* grades, demonstrating our excellence in teaching across the whole curriculum.

Individual success stories

Our high achievers include Adan Khan, who has taken his A-levels a year early and will be studying Medicine at King’s College London with 2 A*’s and an A.  Abu Latif achieved an A* and 2 A’s and is heading to University College, London to study PPE.  Angharad Howden-Evans will study Maths at Birmingham University after securing an A*, A and B with Narain Nithiarasu pursing his studies in Electronic Engineering at Bristol, also with an A*, A and B.  Joe Cunningham achieved 3 A grades and will attend Exeter University for a PPE degree and Nathan Orrells is taking an A*, A and B to Loughborough for a degree in Banking and Finance.

We are very proud of all our students, 70% of whom met or exceeded their ALIS targets set in Year 12.  It is always such a pleasure to see so many smiling faces on results day, amongst parents, students and teachers; well done to all.
