Ffynone House continued its tradition of participating in ‘the world’s biggest coffee morning’ in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. This year the event was held in St James’ Church Hall in celebration of our strong links with the local community in Uplands. An impressive £550 was raised during the course of the morning. Visitors were impressed not only by the delicious cakes on offer but also by the maturity of our sixth form students who organised the event.
With the help of Art teacher, Miss Harvey, the hall looked warm and welcoming. Bunting and tablecloths reflected the green colouring associated with the Macmillan charity. Miss Harvey also lent us her collection of vintage crockery to provide unique and colourful vessels for our tea and cakes. There were so many donations of sweet treats that our Head Boy and Girl and their deputies delivered the remainder to Hillside Care Home where the elderly residents enjoyed them with their afternoon tea.
