Art students in Years 10 to 13 visited the newly refurbished Glynn Vivian Gallery to explore their Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition and take part in a workshop led by a professional artist.
Students studied exhibition works and gained a better understanding of Da Vinci’s style, medium and subjects.
Professional artist Richard Monahan gave an informative tour of the pieces before leading a practical session that encouraged the students to create their own works inspired by what they have seen in the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition. Students focused on drawing aspects of the human skeleton in charcoal and also depicting animals in the style of Da Vinci.
To have the work of such a pivotal artist on display at one of our local galleries was an opportunity that could not be missed. Ffynone House students are in an ideal situation to take advantage of Swansea’s growing cultural calendar as our city centre location means these exhibitions are within a short walk.
