Chemistry affects our lives from the moment we wake up. It is fundamental to making plastics, extracting metals, producing crops, extracting and refining fuels to power cars, making the paper we write on, the inks we write with, and so much more. We aim to make the study of chemistry enjoyable and relevant to everyday life.
Students develop a keen interest in studying chemical processes. They are encouraged to apply their knowledge to understand the effect on our planet, and to examine the important questions facing future generations.
Chemical Olympiad
At the beginning of each academic year, four representatives are selected to participate in the Royal Society of Chemistry Chemical Olympiad competition. Ffynone House School team has won the local competition and has represented the South West Wales in the National Competition ‘Top Of the Bench’ in 2006 and 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2019
The Ffynone House team also secured national finalist places in the Top of the Bench competition in 2010, 2011, and 2012.
