Hat trick for Chemical Olympiad team!
Ffynone Chemical Olympiad Team win the South West Wales Region for the third year in a row!
A team of pupils from Ffynone House School has won the South West Wales Region Chemical Olympiad for the third year in a row. The semi-finals and finals were held in the Taliesin Arts Theatre in Swansea University on the 29th November. The pupils beat strong competition from Christ College, Brecon and Dyffryn Taf School to claim the title in a nail-biting tie break.
The pupils are a completely new team and all from different year groups, Freya Koutsoubelis (Year 11), Tom Warren (Year 10), Kieran Selby (Year 9) and Adam Frangaki-Williams (Year 8) had to answer questions on a range of chemical concepts testing their knowledge and understanding of chemistry.
Head teacher of Ffynone House School Nicola Walker congratulated the team, and their Chemistry teacher Mrs Khaleel, “What an incredible achievement. The success reflects the hard work the individual pupils and Mrs Khaleel have put into their preparation for this competition and the emphasis we put onto each of the sciences in Ffynone House”.
