Ffynone House School News

Ffynone House School were celebrating this week after their Under 14’s School Hockey Team won the South Wales Hockey Championships at Swansea University.

The Ffynone team faced tough competition from 5 other teams in the round robin competition but after winning four games and drawing one they emerged as the unbeaten champions for their age range.

This is the first time Ffynone House School has won the South Wales championships but the third time it has qualified for the National Finals.

The squad consists of ten players Ben Francis, Ben Jones, Max Clews, Jack Grey, Rory Bodycombe, Finn Nolan-Bennett, Rhodri Jones, Tom Radcliffe, Chris Williams and William Hughes.

Ben Francis is one of three Ffynone House pupils recently selected for the Welsh Under 16’s Hockey Squad and has also been selected for the UK Lion’s Under 12 Squad.

Head of the school, Nicola Walker commented, “Congratulations to the team for a convincing display of top class Hockey. Their success is a reflection on the commitment that each squad member has for the sport.”
