Can Cook Will Cook

Year 12 pupils from Ffynone House School in Swansea treated their fellow pupils to lunch in the schools refectory.

The pupils had been competing in a Hell’s Kitchen style exercise and had to cook and serve a meal to the rest of the school and some very hungry staff members.

The pupils served up an appetizing menu of home-made burgers, salad and hot dogs with a dessert of blackcurrant cheesecake and lemon kisses.

The pupils are undertaking a series of challenges, lectures and tasks designed to help them prepare their university applications, practice their interview techniques, develop as leaders and enjoy student life safely. The events are designed as a supplement to the academic focus of the school to provide pupils with the skills needed to make the most of their university life and develop life skills for the future.

Pupils joining the school in September were also attending as part of their transition day. They all got a taste of the sixth formers cooking and were very pleasantly surprised!

Head of Ffynone House School Nicola Walker commented, “At Ffynone House School we are focussed not just on preparing our pupils for academic success but also on ensuring that they are fully prepared for life beyond school. This exercise was excellent for developing teamwork and learning about hygiene and time management in a real environment”.
