Macmillan Coffee Morning at Ffynone House School

Macmillan Coffee Morning

The school hall was buzzing with activity when we took part in Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday September 30th.  The event was organised by two of our Year 12 students, Devon and Abu, and raised over £400 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Our Macmillan Coffee Morning was organised by Year 12 students, Abu and Devon.

Art teacher Ms Harvey supplied Macmillan bunting, vintage china and tablecloths in various shades of green to ensure the surroundings did justice to the mouth-watering array of cakes available. Parents, friends and members of the public were invited to enjoy the refreshments before being joined by students and staff at break time. Sixth Form pupils donned their aprons to staff the cake stalls and even took responsibility for all the washing up!

At school assembly that morning our Head Boy and Girl took the opportunity to explain more about the Macmillan Charity and the work they do. They felt it was important that while their peers were enjoying their cake later in the day, they remained mindful of the reason for their donations. It certainly felt good to be part of a fund-raising event on such a large scale and we can confirm that our Ffynone family has some excellent young bakers!
