Life at Ffynone House

Ffynone House School is host to a vibrant and exciting pupil community. The pupils enjoy a diverse curriculum and a host of extra-curricular activities throughout each term. New facilities on offer to the pupils present a wide range of opportunities than ever before – the school has a new IT suite with another on the way and access to the top class swimming, sporting and athletic facilities in nearby Swansea University.

Sports

Pupils regularly participate in Football, Rugby, Hockey, Netball and Swimming. Throughout the year the pupils are given the opportunity to try other sports such as rock climbing and orienteering. There is a regular ski trip to either a European or North American ski resort on offer too.

Drama

Drama is a growth area in Ffynone. For many years the school has presented a musical in the Summer term but recently the pupils have tried their hands at more serious drama in a production of ‘Easy Street’, a harrowing play about homelessness.

Music

Music is at the centre of most of Ffynone’s public events. The school has a vibrant chamber orchestra, various bands and peripatetic teaching available for a number of instruments.

Entrepreneurship

Pupils from Ffynone regularly participate in Young Enterprise and Celtic Enterprise competitions. In 2010 the Ffynone team won the Welsh round of the Celtic Enterprise competition!

Debating

Ffynone pupils have a reputation for being logical and compelling speakers. This is because of the great store put in developing our pupils public speaking skills from an early age. Our debating teams have an unrivaled reputation in local and national competition.

Fundraising

Fundraising for charities is a key activity for all pupils in the school. Recent years have seen thousands of pounds collected for the Haiti appeal, Cyrenians, Oxfam, Mr X Appeal and many other worthy causes.
