Extra curricular GCSE Statistics Course

Wednesday 4 - 5pm.  Pupils (in Year 9 or above) and parents welcome.

£30.00 for the year to cover textbook and other resources.

• This first year will introduce the basics of statistics.  You can use the skills you acquire when studying a range of further subjects at all levels.  A basis in statistics can also be useful in the world of work such as manufacturing, insurance, medical research and the civil service.  Very little previous knowledge is required.  This basic course will give you a good introduction to statistics, but will not result in any formal qualification.
• Those who wish to continue with their studies for the second year will study the more complex topics not covered in the first year, complete revision and undertake the controlled assignment.  The exam will be sat in June 2011 for those who complete both years (The cost of the second year will be exam entry fee and approx £30).
• Term 1 - Autumn 2009 - Types of Data, Sampling, Collecting Data, Representing Data.  Lessons will run on 16th, 23rd, 30th September, 14th, 21st, October, 4th, 11th, 18th November, 2nd, 9th December.
