Ffynone House students will have the opportunity to see ten of the finest drawings by Leonardo da Vinci in a new exhibition at the Glynn Vivian art gallery.
Through drawing, da Vinci attempted to record and understand the world around him. The works on display from the Royal Collection have been selected to show the extraordinary scope of the artist’s interests, from painting and sculpture to engineering, zoology, botany, mapmaking and anatomy. They also demonstrate his use of different media – pen and ink, red and black chalks, watercolour and metalpoint.
Leonardo da Vinci’s fascinating drawings are widely considered to be the richest, most wide-ranging and technically brilliant of any artist.
