Developing a love of language and a language for life

In our English lessons we really want to encourage pupils to find fascination and excitement within the pages of our chosen novels so that the habit of reading becomes an addictive one. You will be inspired and challenged to explore plot, characterisation and the ways authors use language as well as to analyse magazines, newspapers and advertising.

You may find yourself on your feet in roleplay, in quiet corners writing poetry or taking the lead in an animated discussion.

We aim to equip every pupil with the skills to engage in the cut and thrust of lively debate and the ability to use words imaginatively, creatively and accurately. Above all we want you to develop a love of language and a language for life.
