Drama at Ffynone House School in Uplands Swansea
Drama is available throughout Ffynone House School and also serves its role as an extra-curricular activity through school productions and similar events.
In Key Stage Three pupils have one lesson a week and develop skills related to:
- Mime
- Movement
- Roleplay
- Voice and vocal expression
- Playing a character
- Speaking dialogue
- Monologues
- Facial expression
- Improvisation
- Sound effects
- Looking at a text
- Different Genres in Drama
- Devising their own pieces of work
- Planning practical work
- Writing Scripts
- Group work skills
- Other key skills
- Other Drama skills
These skills are developed through topics as well as through Drama Games and productions.
Sample topics include Pantomime (Year 7); Greek Theatre (Year 8);
Murder Mystery (Year 9)
Topics can change from Year to Year depending on the groups being taught.
At GCSE we follow the Edexcel Drama course and study texts including Blood Brothers; Memory of Water & Bouncers. We also do coursework related to themes such as Terror in Society, war and Body Image.
A Level courses also follow the Edexcel exam board where there is demand.
SCHOOL PRODUCTIONS:
All pupils have the opportunity to be in school productions. We have attempted a large number of musicals over the years and recent productions include:
