At GCSE all pupils take a core of English and English Literature, Maths. Biology, Chemistry and Physics. In addition students make a choice of four optional subjects. The actual subjects on offer varies each year but they normally include art, drama, german, french, latin, ICT, business, history and geography. Recently we have also offered early entry for GCSE Maths and additional maths. From September 2009 statistics GCSE will be offered as an extra curricular class.
In the Sixth Form we offer a range of A level courses which may include English, French, German, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Business Studies, Art and Psychology. Students are encouraged to study four AS levels in Year 12. They would then normally select their three strongest subjects to continue to A level.
Curriculum
In Years 7,8 and 9 pupils study English,maths and science as well as history, geography, french , german, ICT, art, drama, music, PSE, RS and PE. All subjects are taught by specialist staff in small classes. Pupils are taught in ability groups for core subjects.
Support in maths and English is available to those students who might benefit.
In Year 7 pupils study both Welsh and Latin in addition to their other subjects. During Years 8 and Year 9 students make a choice between Welsh or Latin.
